Equilibrium sampling of the configuration space in disordered systems requires algorithms that bypass the glassy slowing down of the physical dynamics. Irreversible Monte Carlo algorithms breaking detailed balance successfully accelerate sampling in some systems. We first implement an irreversible event-chain Monte Carlo algorithm in a model of polydisperse hard disks. The effect of collective translational moves marginally affects the dynamics and results in a modest speedup that decreases…

This work builds on the recent analytical characterization of such methods as generating Piecewise Deterministic Markov Processes (PDMP) to clearly decipher the necessary symmetries the PDMP must obey from the sufficient ones which may prove to be too restrictive in a general setting.

This work characterize the Markov processes generated in ECMC as piecewise deterministic Markov Processes, which allows for more general schemes, and proves the invariance of the correct stationary distribution and the ergodicity of the processes in soft- and hard-sphere systems.
