There’s a weird thing that happens in the book world… you spend all this time writing words, and then you have to send those words to people to get feedback and endorsem*nts and generally see if they like what you wrote.

It is an incredibly terrifying and vulnerable process.

I sent off my manuscript to some people I respect and trust… I was thoughtful about who I asked because I wanted to ask people in differing circles and walks of life to show that this book isn’t just a book for one type of person. I gave each of them complete permission to decline or bow out or say “no thank you…” But they didn’t.

All of a sudden, I started getting texts saying, “Molly, I can’t stop reading this book.” or “Molly, I read it in one sitting.” or “I am laughing so hard I choked on my water.”

I value each of their voices so much, and their endorsem*nts for this book mean so much to me. I am forever grateful.

Fanny (our Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog) couldn’t be more different than my dog Audrey (a cavalier King Charles spaniel 😂) who we had to put down almost two years ago. Fanny lives outsides 100% of the time. Audrey slept with me and was always at my feet. Fanny is constantly dirty, muddy, matted, and stinky. Audrey went to a groomer regularly. Fanny weighs nearly 100 pounds. Audrey weighed 20 soaking wet. Fanny eats raw eggs and kills foxes and protects us from livestock and moving leaves. Audrey was the chillest dog ever. I still miss Audrey every day, but Fanny… she’s been such a gift to our family. Not only in how she is the hardest working thing on the farm, but also because her smiles and her joy and her hilarity is such a gift. When @sbezner comes to North Carolina, you drop everything and eat fried okra and laugh loudly together. I deeply love these people and I’m grateful for them beyond words.

I am so grateful for people like @thetylermerrittproject - the world needs more people like Tyler and I’ve been so thankful for his encouragement over the years. When he responded after he read my manuscript he said, ““Y’all I don’t know any other way to say it but Molly writes a lot like me. So fine. I’ll just say it. Her writing is brilliant. Funny, witty, highly shareable… Seriously though many times I found myself saying, “I could have written this!” Minus the being a 38 year old white woman, Molly and I are basically the same person.”
