Just as much fun to make as it is to drink! Shake it up with this Sweet Tarts Moonshine Recipe! It’s the perfect blend of sweet and tangy fruit flavors that really packs a punch! An excellent mixer for shots and fruity co*cktails!
Have you seen the moonshine recipes that are all the rage right now? I’ve been so curious to try them!
This sweet tart moonshine recipe is my first attempt and Ilove how it turned out! Just look at that bright pink color— gorgeous!
Surprisingly, homemade moonshine is super easy to make, and it’s fun to “brew” your own!
Technically, it’s not true “moonshine” because you’re not distilling your own alcohol (moonshine is historically a catch-all term for illegally-made spirits). However, you’ll often see highly-potent flavored alcoholic beverages called moonshine these days. And that is definitely what this is!

Sweet Tart Moonshine Recipe
Yields: 4 mason jars (8-10 ounces each) – I’ve included affiliate links for your convenience in re-creating this recipe; disclosure policy available here.
Ingredients & Supplies
- 4 small 8oz- 10oz mason jars
- 6 cups Everclear
- 1-2 cups sweet tarts candy
Tip: Flavored moonshine takes about a week to reach it’s potential, so be sure to plan ahead.
How to make candy moonshine:
Separate sweet tarts by color. Add about 1/3 cup sweet tarts to each mason jar, one color candy per jar. You can add up to 1/2 cup candy if you like an especially flavorful drink.
Fill each mason jar with Everclear (about 1 cup) and seal the lid.
Shake each closed and sealed jar vigorously for one minute, then store in a cool dark place.
Check the jars daily, shaking each for about a minute. Keep stored, shaking 1-2 times per day for about a week.
After a week, remove lids and strain the liquid to remove any candy residue.
Tip: You can infuse your moonshine recipe for up to 2 weeks for more potent sweet tart flavor, however you don’t want to let the candy steep longer than that as it can be overload! I found these hints for infusing alcohol to be helpful.
Return to jars— your moonshine is ready to enjoy!
Since it’s pretty potent stuff, you probably won’t use it all at once. No worries— you can keep your moonshine sealed in jars in a cool place for up to a month.
Note: Please enjoy this recipe responsibly and legally! This is intended for adults 21+ and pleaseno drinking and driving!
