Sebastian Korda was robbed just days before the Monte-Carlo Masters.

Sebastian Korda had a nightmare time at the Monte-Carlo Masters after being the victim of a robbery ahead of the tournament. The world No. 27 was then demolished by Jannik Sinner in the second round just days after two thieves stole his £250,000 (€300,000) watch.

Korda will likely want to forget his time in Monte Carlo, which was marred by incidents both on and off the court. The American had a tough time in his match against Sinner on Wednesday.

But more concerningly, he had his £250k watch stolen while out in the street last week. According to Nice Matin, the robbery took place while Korda was going down a staircase between the Avenue de France and Avenue Varavilla Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, near the courts.

Two individuals on scooters are said to have immobilised the 23-year-old before leaving with his luxury Richard Mille watch. Menton police are actively seeking the thieves. They are using video surveillance and DNA samples from the area where Korda was robbed.

Korda was not injured during the incident. He managed to win his opening match at the Monte-Carlo Masters on Tuesday, defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-1 6-2.

After a strong start in the tournament, the world No. 27 lasted just 75 minutes on the court when he faced No. 2 seed Sinner on Tuesday. The Italian stormed past Korda, winning 6-1 6-2.

Korda is a Richard Mille ambassador. According to the luxury watchmaker, the American tennis star wears an RM 67-02, the Automatic Winding Extra Flat sport’s watch. The model has the lightest strap that the brand has ever created and the watch itself weighs 32 grams.

His sisters, golf pros Nelly and Jessica Korda, are both also sponsored by Richard Mille. Korda will be hoping to put the incident past him as he looks ahead to next week’s ATP 250 in Bucharest.
