IN Puyallup, Ill Olympia, S. L. TIDES L. I. The Morning News Tribune, Saturday, March 20, 1993 Pullman to get namesake railroad car PULLMAN This town, named after the famous maker of railroad cars, will finally have a Pullman to call its own.
Next month, a 1946 PullmanStandard passenger coach is expected to be shipped to this college town from Battle Ground in Southwestern Washington. Dan Antoni, who works as a real estate agent out of a remodeled brick train station he owns called the Pufferbelly Depot, recently saw a train car converted into a diner in Spokane and decided Pullman needed its own car. "It just seemed it would be a natural for the depot," Antoni said. "I think it's going to make an identifying statement about Pullman." Antoni got in touch with a Port- land rail car broker who knew about a Pullman that's been in storage for years in Battle Ground. His parents bought the car, which used to run between Spokane, Pullman and the Lewiston-Clarkston area.
A work crew put in railroad ties last weekend and will lay a short track by the end of the month, Antoni said. The car will travel on tracks from Battle Ground and then be hoisted by crane onto the new track. Antoni plans to restore the 5 56- seat car to its original green and place it next to the Pufferbelly Depot. He expects a business possibly an office, restaurant or espresso bar will open inside the car. He said he also hopes to eventually find a caboose and possibly a locomotive to add to the Pullman car.
Pullman was called Three Forks until 1881, when it was renamed by civic boosters who supposedly were hoping for a generous contribution from railroad magnate George Pullman, whose company was best known for its sleeper cars. According to the legend, Pullman gave the town only $50, but the railroads soon followed and helped develop the community. The Chamber of Commerce in 1976 bought a wooden Pullman car that was stored in Spokane. But the plan to bring the car to Pullman was scrapped because of shipping and restoration costs. Efforts to revive the idea of bringing a Pullman car in 1987 and 1990 also were shelved.

Arthur B. Froney, passed away March 18, 1993 after a courageous battle with a long illness. He had many friends and an abundant sense of humor he will be missed and dearly remembered. Art was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on Feb.
25, 1931. He attended the Army-Navy Academy in Carlsbad, CA and graduated from Culver Military Academy, IN in 1949. He graduated from Woodbury University in 1952 and went into the U.S. Army, serving 2 years during the Korean War, supporting SHAPE and NATO headquarters in Fontainbleau, France. His career in sales and personnel for various companies included General Electric and Weyerhaeuser Company, and real estate sales.
He formed his in 1976, Warehouse Equipmenpad. Art believed strongly in community service as evidenced by his 25 years of perfect attendance with Rotary. He served as chairman of Tacoma Narrows Rotary Youth Exchange program for 8 years, and was a past board member of Tacoma Little Theatre, active in YMCA Indian Guides and a member of Tacoma Elks Art is survived by his wife, Ellie Froney; son, Ethan, Tacoma; sisters, Constance F. Soder, Tacoma, Beatrice F. Sanderson, MA; and niece and nephew of MA.
He also had an extended family of exchange students throughout the world who were an important part of his life. She worked in the Cowlitz Co. Treasurers Office for several years, then moved to Tacoma in 1956 and worked as a civilian bookkeeper for the Army for many years.
She was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church and did volunteer work with blind children in the Catholic Church in Tacoma. She enjoyed bingo. Her husband, Guy Nick preceded her in death in 1982. He was born in Clinton, lowa, and went to work for Coast Sash and Door when he brought his family to Tacoma in 1941, retiring in 1962. He was preceded in death by wife of 40 years, Myrna, and his son Bill. He had numerous hobbies, with boating his number one favorite.
He was proud to be a Charter Member of Totem Yacht Club and to serve as its Commodore in 1957, when the club purchased its original property Commencement Bay.
