HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME 508 N. Government Way "Community Owned" (509) 838-8900 HEARN, Virginia Gloria (Age 81) Virginia passed away May 2, 2007 after an 8-year battle with ovarian cancer. Her family surrounded during her peaceful parting. She is survived by her husband Daniel P. Hearn; her daughter Susan Paseman of Deer Park, WA; her son Michael D.

Hearn of Camano Island, WA; and her brother Lee V. Hawkins of Los Angeles, CA. She has five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a very talented watercolor artist and her paintings won several trophies and ribbons in Texas and Washington competitions. Recently she worked in two additional areas, individually designed greeting cards and painting animal pictures on rocks that resemble the shape of the animal.

Many friends and family treasure her unique greeting cards and the special words enclosed. Several of her paintings hang in doctor's offices and at Cancer Care Northwest. During her final days of treatment for cancer she was encouraged by the nurses at Cancer Care Northwest to enter an international painting competition sponsored by Lily Oncology. She painted a remarkable watercolor entitled "Living With Cancer Through a Garden of Faith and It passed the first stage of competition and moved on to final judging in London. The painting was selected for a national tour throughout the USA.

An oncology nurse in Pueblo, Colorado became aware of the painting and asked permission to get an enlarged copy for decorating the lobby of their new Oncology wing. We were sent pictures of the formal presentation where her painting hangs. Virginia was very active in golf before the cancer and won several cups for tournaments she played in Dallas and Tulsa, her previous homes. Many trophies, paintings, rocks and newspaper articles are left behind, but best of all is how she taught us to love and accept each other above all else.
