TODAY Hosts Celebrate Motherhood: ‘I’ll Still Be for You’

A few of the TODAY show hosts recently discussed what it is like to be a mother.

Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones met at a New York City restaurant and discussed the topic.

“Motherhood is a sisterhood,” Guthrie said. “Half of it is just being like, ‘Yeah. I’m terrible at that, too.’ Or ‘Yeah. I got mad at my kids about that, too.'”

“None of us know what to do, we are figuring it all out as we go along,” said Dreyer.

“I try to say ‘Okay, I want to be the mom that I can look back at. I want to be proud of how I mommed.’ So if that means there are going to be clothes on the floor, but I was down there playing with them, then so be it,” Jones added. “There’s some quote about how, you know, ‘I don’t want to be the mom so busy cleaning the grass stains off their jeans that I’m not in the grass with them,’ right?”

The ladies shared how they all have similar struggles, and they aren’t alone.

“Every time you talk about something that you feel uncomfortable about…everybody chimes in and goes, ‘Me too, me too,’” said Kotb.

“I think that is the key,” Jones added. “We’re all doing the best we can. We take what we had and what we liked about it. We bring that with us, and some things that maybe we wanna tweak a little bit.”

“I think our job as moms is to be just rock solid,” Guthrie continued. “I’m here and I’m for you. You can count on that. You can take that to the bank. You might be mad at me. That’s fine. I’ll still be here and I’ll still be for you and on your side.”

On Mother’s Day, Savannah Guthrie took to Instagram to share an old photo of her and her mother.

“Happy Mother’s Day to this gorgeous, original, intelligent, resolute, noble, faithful, sparkling beauty of a soul – my dear mama,” she captioned. “Gods first, best and most important gift to me.”

Kotb also shared a post celebrating her mom. “Happy mother’s day to the VERY BEST❤️ we love you mom,” she wrote.

She also posted a photo of gifts she received from her daughters. “Lucky me! Happy mother’s day,” Kotb posted.

Movieguide® previously reported on Kotb’s relationship with her kids:

When TODAY show host Hoda Kotb was planning to adopt her second child, one word that kept appearing in her journal stood out—Hope.

So, when she adopted her daughter in 2019, she named her Hope Catherine. She’s now four years old.

“I dreamt about her and I prayed for her and I hoped for her. I could feel her like she was almost palpable before she was there,” shesaid.

“The name Hope was a layup. Prayers, wishes and hopes are things that are meant to be. I was like, that’s her name and she’s lived up to that name,” Kotbsaid.

“The name came because there are a lot of women out there who are hoping that their day is coming too, and I know the feeling of it not happening for a long time,” shesaid.
