What's the difference between RT and RT Scat Pack? ›

The R/T comes with a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine that can produce up to an impressive 375 horsepower. The R/T Scatpack comes with a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine that can deliver up to 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque.

The 2024 Charger Daytona R/T is good for 496 horsepower, which includes a standard Direct Connection Stage 1 upgrade kit that adds 40 horsepower. The 2024 Daytona Scat Pack, which comes from the factory with a Stage 2 upgrade that adds 80 horsepower, develops a near-Hellcat-like 670 horsepower.

While the 2023 Charger R/T and Scat Pack started at $46,660 and $53,520, respectively, the EV versions are likely to be considerably more expensive. We think Dodge will price the 2024 R/T closer to $60,000 and the 2024 Scat Pack closer to $70,000.

Despite the significant price savings, the R/T Scat Pack gets the same power as the more expensive SRT 392 model, though it gives up some of the handling and braking equipment as well as some creature comforts. A base Challenger R/T with the 375-hp, 410-lb-ft 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 is priced from $32,490.

The R/T Scat Pack features everything from the R/T trim and then some. It swaps the 5.7L Eagle HEMI V8 for the 6.4L 392 HEMI V8. This much larger and more powerful engine produces up to 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. The R/T Scat Pack also comes standard with the six-speed manual transmission.

Both the Scat Pack and the SRT 392 are powerful and capable of delivering impressive performances. In fact, both the SRT 392 and the Scat Pack can achieve 0-60 mph times in the low 4-second range. One thing to note is that the SRT 392 comes with additional performance features compared to the Scat Pack.

We anticipate that pricing will begin in the high-$30,000 range for the entry-level gasoline model and will cross the $80,000 mark for the Charger Daytona Scat Pack outfitted with the Track package.

The Scat Pack name is said to have come from the “Rat Pack” and refers to the Dodge's old lineup of muscle cars, including the Coronet R/T, Charger R/T, Dart GTS, and Super Bee. These days, the ScatPack is several trim levels between the Challenger R/T and Hellcat.

If you want just speed get the Scat pack but if you're collector like I am get the RT. If in the future you want more power then get a turbo kit and BOOM. The RT can now pull about 500HP so you'll be faster than a scat but at a smaller price still.
